We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Lead Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of advanced airborne and spaceborne radar systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in mechanical product development, structural design, precision engineering, and hardware integration. The role involves taking ownership of mechanical architecture, detailed design, prototyping, environmental qualification, and production readiness.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams across RF, electronics, thermal engineering, systems, and manufacturing to develop reliable, high-performance hardware for aerospace, defence, and space applications.

The candidate should have practical experience in taking complex mechanical hardware from concept and design through assembly, testing, validation, and production.

Key responsibilities

  • Own mechanical architecture, detailed design, and integration of radar assemblies for aircraft, UAVs, and spacecraft applications.
  • Design lightweight structures, mounting interfaces, enclosures, and mechanical mechanisms while managing mass, centre of gravity, alignment, and packaging constraints.
  • Collaborate with RF and electronics teams on antenna alignment, radome interfaces, RF packaging, cable routing, and grounding provisions.
  • Perform or review structural, vibration, shock, thermal, fatigue, and tolerance analyses.
  • Develop 3D models, production drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, bills of materials, and assembly procedures.
  • Plan and support environmental qualification tests, including vibration, shock, thermal cycling, and thermal vacuum testing.
  • Define test fixtures, instrumentation, acceptance criteria, and test procedures.
  • Investigate hardware failures, implement corrective actions, and drive retesting.
  • Lead prototype builds, supplier technical reviews, manufacturing readiness, and design transfer to production.
