Structural Engineer
We are looking for a Structural Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and development of advanced aerospace, spacecraft, and UAV structures.
The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in solid mechanics, structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and lightweight structural design. The role involves performing structural sizing, stress analysis, buckling analysis, and fatigue assessments for aerospace and space-related applications.
You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, including thermal, propulsion, flight controls, and manufacturing, to develop reliable, lightweight, and structurally efficient hardware.
Candidates with hands-on experience in metallic and composite structures, CAD modelling, structural simulation, and prototype testing will be preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Design primary and secondary spacecraft and UAV structures.
- Perform structural sizing using analytical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Evaluate static strength, stiffness, buckling, fatigue, and structural stability of aircraft components.
- Optimize structures for weight, manufacturability, cost, and structural efficiency.
- Develop detailed CAD models, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborate with thermal, propulsion, flight controls, and manufacturing teams to develop integrated structural solutions.
- Design composite and metallic structures, including joints, bonded interfaces, and mechanical fasteners.
- Develop structural test articles and define validation plans for coupon, subcomponent, and full-scale structural testing.
- Correlate finite element models with experimental data and continuously improve structural models.
- Support spacecraft assembly, structural integration, ground testing, and flight test campaigns.
Nice to have: Experience in Aerospace, Spacecraft, UAV, or Defence Engineering., Experience designing lightweight aerospace or space structures., Knowledge of metallic and composite materials., Experience with composite layups, machining, sheet metal fabrication, and bonded or bolted assemblies., Understanding of structural efficiency, load paths, and design for manufacturability., Experience with prototype hardware, structural testing, and design iterations., Programming experience in Python or MATLAB for analysis automation., Experience in aircraft, automotive motorsport, or other lightweight structures.
Education: M.Tech / PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline. B.Tech candidates with relevant structural engineering experience can also be considered.
